Denise Choppin

Denise Choppin creates works of art to invoke the power and beauty she finds in the natural world. Rather than attempt to recreate faithful representations of the objects or scenes that inspire her, she seeks to evoke their essential emotional content. Recent works explore the dynamic tension between representation and abstraction to capture this evocative essence.

She attempts to illustrate the notion of vastness – even in a square foot or two – and to capture the experience of land, water, space, time and light. Her most recent work, Denise creates floral images in the simplest form.

Denise Choppin holds an MFA from FSU and lives in Tallahassee where she also runs a graphic design business serving education, business, government and association clients.
